What is Ayushman Bharat?
Ayushmaan Bharat is nothing but a Health Insurance launched by the Indian Government in 2018. Ayushmaan Bharat has a variable name such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJY), Ayushman Bharat Yojana (ABY), ModiCare, National Health Protection Scheme etc. But officially it is called as “Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana” (PMJY).
Is Ayushman Bharat applicable to each and every one?
No, Ayushman Bharat is not applicable to each and everyone, it is applicable to those people, whose name is mentioned in Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011. According to the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data, there is 8 crore approx. families in the rural area and 2.5 crore approx families in the city who will be entitled under this Insurance scheme. In future, the data might change, so as the eligibility might change.
What is the Insurance amount covered under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJY)
In this scheme, the Insurance amount which is covered is Rs 5 Lakh per family. The family will be benefited with the pre and post hospitalization expenses with this amount.
Do we need to pay any premium
One doesn’t have to pay any premium amount to avail this Insurance scheme.
Am I eligible for Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJY).
The government has created a website where one can know whether he or she is eligible for this scheme or not. You don’t need to apply or enrol yourself for registration, you just need to go to the website and check your eligibility.
Below is the step by step guide to know whether you are eligible for this Insurance Scheme (Ayushman Bharat) or not.
Following are the steps to know the eligibility :
Go to your browser and in search engine type “Ayushman Bharat”
Scroll down a little bit and Click on the Home | Ayushman Bharat as shown in the below image.
After clicking on the Ayushman Bharat, Click on the “ Am I Eligible” as shown in the below image.
Now enter your mobile number and captcha, after that click on Generate OTP as shown in the below image.
You will be taken to the next page where you will need to type the OTP which you will receive through a message on your phone or mobile.
After that, you will need to click on the Submit button, but before clicking on the submit button you need to first click on the box as shown in the above image. After clicking on submit button you will be taken to the next page where you will be asked for information such as select state and select category.
“Select State”
Select Category such as :
Search by name
Search by Ration Card Number
Search by Mobile Number
Search by RSBY URN
Select any category as information available with you as shown in the above image
If you have selected the category "Search by Mobile Number" for example, then you need to put your mobile number and then Click on the search button as shown in the below image.
If you are eligible then you and your family details will be shown and
If you are not eligible “No result found” will be shown.
Whether I need to apply for this scheme
No, you don’t have to apply for this scheme anywhere for knowing whether you are eligible or not. If your name and your family name is there in the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data, then you and your family are automatically eligible.
Which hospitals are empanelled where I can avail the benefit of this service If I am Eligible
Go to your browser and type in the search engine “List of Hospitals under Ayushman Bharat”
Click on the first option “ HEM Empanelled Hospitals” as shown in the below image.
After Clicking as shown in the above image, you will get a dialogue box as shown in the below image.
State: Select the state
District: Select the district
Hospital Type: Select Public or Private (Not for Profit) or Private ( For Profit).
Speciality: Select the speciality type.
Hospital Name: Select the name of the hospital.
Enter the captcha and click on search button.

These were the step where one can know, whether he or she is eligible for the Health Insurance scheme named “Ayushman Bharat”.
