TRAIS New Rule for DTH Service Provider
What is the minimum amount which I need
to pay after 1st February, 2019 as per TRAI regulation for receiving
services from DTH service provider, Cable TV operator ?
TRAI
has kept a base price of Rs.130 plus tax for the viewers for the continuation
of services from DTH service provider, Cable TV operator.
How many channels will I get at the
base price ?
You
will get 100 TV channels with the base price of Rs.130 plus tax .
Which TV Channel I will get to choose
at the base price ?
You will be able to
select the TV channels in 4 (Four) ways.
1.Free To Air Channels
(Free)
2.Pay Channels (Having
MRP on Individual channels of broadcasters)
3. Channel Bouquets Lists
(Combining TV channels of respective
broadcasters with MRP)
4.
Combination of all the above
How many TV channels I will be able to choose
at the base price of Rs.130 plus tax ?
You
will be able to choose 75 TV Channels out of 100 TV Channels at the base price of Rs.130 plus tax .
Why I am not able to choose other 25 TV
channels out of 100 TV channels at the base price ?
Those
25 TV channels are of DD (Door Darshan) Broadcaster
which are by default provided at the base price .
If I Chose 100 Free To Air Channels,
that is (25 (by default) + 75 Free To Air Channels), then how much I will be
charged by the DTH service provider, Cable TV operator ?
Your
DTH service provider, Cable TV operator will be able to charge you only the
base price that is Rs.130 plus tax .
If I choose (25 (by default) channels +
75 pay channels) out of 100 channels, then how much I will be charged by the DTH
service provider, Cable TV operator ?
By
assuming pay channels costing Re. 1 per
channel, your DTH service provider, Cable TV operator might charge you Rs. 242 (
130 (base price ) + 75 (pay channels) + 37 ( tax ) ) approx .
If I choose (25 (by default) channels + Channel Bouquets Lists consisting 75
channels) out of 100 TV channels, then
how much I will be charged by the DTH service provider, Cable TV operator ?
By
assuming Channel Bouquets Lists costing Rs.50, your DTH service provider, Cable
TV operator might charge you Rs.214 ( 130 (base price ) + 50 (Channel Bouquet
List prices ) + 34 (tax) ) for 100 TV Channels .
If I Choose (25 channels (by default) +
50 Pay Channels + Channel Bouquet Lists consisting 25 channels) out of 100 TV channels,
then how much I will be charged by the DTH service provider, Cable TV operator ?
By
assuming each Pay Channel costing Re.1 per channel and Channel Bouquet Lists costing
Rs.50, your DTH service provider, Cable TV operator might charge you Rs. 271/- (130 ( base price ) + 50 ( pay channel ) + 50
( Channel Bouquet List price ) + 41 (tax) ) approx.
What if I want to watch more than 100
TV Channels ?
If
one wants to watch more than 100 TV Channel, one can do so by paying additional
Rs.20 over and above Rs.130 and plus tax and that person will get additional 25
channels to choose from Free to Air Channels or Pay Channels or Channel Bouquet
List.
Suppose If I want to watch 150 TV
Channels then how much I will be charged by DTH service provider, Cable TV
operator ?
By assuming one opt for
:
1. 25 Channels by
default
2. 75 Free to Air
Channels
3. 25 Pay channels
(costing Re. 1 per channel) assumption
4. Channel Bouquets Lists
consisting 25 channels @ Rs.50. assumption

How many Free to Air Channels, Pay Channels
and Channels Bouquet List are there ?
As
on January, 2019 there are 534 Free to Air Channels, 330 Pay Channels and
various Channels Bouquets List are there for consumers .
Whether Standard Definition (SD) Channel
and High Definition (HD) Channels are treated similarly or differently ?
Standard
Definition Channel (SD) and High Definition (HD) Channels are treated differently,
when you select 1 (One) HD Channel, then it will be consider as if you have chosen
2 (Two) channels of SD.
Suppose one want to choose only HD
channels out of 100 TV Channels, then how many HD channels one will get by the DTH service provider, Cable TV operator
?
Consumer
might get 37 HD Channels and 25 default channels out of 100 TV channels. By
assuming HD channel costing Re. 1. Your DTH service provider, Cable TV operator
will charge you Rs.197 (130 ( base price )+ 37 ( price of HD ) + 30 ( tax ) ).
By opting for 37 HD Channels, it is consider as you have opted for 74 SD
Channels.
Is there any site or application where
I can choose the respective channel with their respective amount ?
Yes, TRAI has come up
with the application, where one can come to know the exact amount by choosing
respective TV Channels.
